XRP Futures on CME Hit $235 Million Daily Record

XRP futures have achieved a significant milestone, with CME’s XRP and Micro XRP futures reaching a new daily record on July 11, 2025. The notional trading volume for these futures surpassed $235 million, pushing the total volume across the suite beyond $1.6 billion. This record-breaking performance highlights the rapidly growing demand for regulated crypto products globally.

The launch of XRP and Micro XRP futures on May 19, 2025, marked a pivotal moment for institutional and retail investors seeking regulated exposure to XRP. These cash-settled contracts, tied to CME’s XRP-Dollar Reference Rate, are available in standard (50,000 XRP) and micro (2,500 XRP) sizes, providing flexibility without the need for digital wallets. On the launch day, over $19 million in notional value was traded across 15 firms and four retail platforms, demonstrating early momentum that has since scaled significantly.

The July 11 session was particularly noteworthy, with more than 9,100 contracts traded—equivalent to over 82 million XRP. Micro XRP contracts reached their highest daily volume to date, further underscoring the escalating demand for these products. The global interest in XRP futures is evident, with 45% of the volume originating from outside North America.

This surge in demand for XRP futures is part of a broader trend toward regulated crypto investment vehicles. On July 14, asset manager 3IQ reported that its XRP ETF (XRPQ), launched on June 18 on Canada’s TSX, surpassed $50 million in assets under management. This reflects a growing preference for regulated investment options in the crypto space, driven by the need for transparency, security, and compliance.

The escalating demand for XRP futures on CME signals a significant shift in the crypto market, with investors increasingly seeking regulated and transparent investment vehicles. The record-breaking volumes and global interest underscore the potential for further growth in the regulated crypto sector, as more investors look to capitalize on the opportunities presented by digital assets.
